What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare?
This Long Border was designed around the concept of Restorative Landscapes — spaces that promote physical, social and mental wellbeing.
The naturalistic composition echoed the feeling of a flower-rich meadow, interpreted on an intimate scale. The planting offered a gentle moment of pause, inviting visitors to slow down, engage their senses and reconnect with nature. The design celebrated natural Yorkshire landscapes that induce a sense of awe and wonder.
Plant selections were inspired by traditional meadow species, woven together with soft, textural grasses. A sculptural panel crafted from rusted recycled steel reflected the flowing form of hills, while also grounding the design with a sense of permanence and connection to an ancient, familiar landscape.
The border took its title from William H. Davies’ poem Leisure, which expresses the importance to take time to appreciate the beauty of nature - a sentiment that lay at the heart of this design.
